An interdisciplinary Franco-Swiss team is currently developing the first French-speaking interprofessional training programme on adherence in Lyon, France. Supported by ESPACOMP, this programme is a collaboration between two academic institutions: the Health Services and Performance Research (HESPER) laboratory, University Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France, and the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Western Switzerland, University of Geneva, Switzerland. The Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region funds this initiative for three years via the Pack Ambition Internationale scheme. Between 2020 and 2023, three cohorts of up to 30 healthcare professionals will develop their knowledge and skills for managing adherence in clinical practice. The programme is open to doctors, pharmacists, nurses, health psychologists, researchers and patient associations.

The training programme will take place between April and September each year, and will include a 3-day summer school focused on communication skills, as well as online webinars on practical knowledge and tools for assessment and intervention. The trainers are experts in medication adherence, self-management support (in French, therapeutic patient education; ETP), public health, medical pedagogy, motivational interviewing and health communication (Marie-Paule Schneider, Cristiana Fortini, Marie Viprey, Teddy Novais, Anne-Marie Schott & Alexandra Dima).
